Mika Blue
by Inge Rylant
Inge Rylant’s work as an illustrator is defined by two main characteristics: screen printing and Japanese aesthetics. For MIKA, Inge has combined the tactile nature of screen printing with the visual style of Japanese photographer Yoshi Takata, who worked for the French fashion designer Pierre Cardin in the 60’s-70’s. The result is a subtle interaction of abstract colour fields, a perfect fit for fans of contemporary design. MIKA is a popular Japanese maiden name that contains both the characters 美 (beauty) and 加 (increase). More beauty, isn’t that what we all want? Mika is available in two colour variations.

Inge Rylant
Inge Rylant is an illustrator and visual artist based in Antwerp, Belgium. Inge's work consists of drawings that are stripped of all the superfluous, focusing on the fundamentals of the image: colour and composition. Like a sponge, she absorbs insights from art, interiors, buildings and street scenes. Inge has a knack for blending the aesthetics of East and West. Over the years, she has mainly researched Japanese art, design and architecture. The austere yet detailed visual language of Japan seems to blend perfectly with her own signature style.
