Squeeze at Hôtel de Sully
The renowned British artist Paul Cocksedge was chosen by Monuments Nationaux and Paris Design Week 2024 to exhibit his work at one of Paris' most prestigious locations.
Squeeze was launched at the iconic Hôtel de Sully in a prestigious collaboration with Deknudt Mirrors.
Where it all began
Paul Cocksedge visited our factory in Deerlijk and was inspired to create a mirror that explores light, reflection, and the alchemy behind mirror-making.
Paul started with soft, compressible materials, which he moulded with his hands into beautiful compositions. These were then pressed - squeezed - into a 2D mirror, transforming the essence of the soft shapes into a flat, reflective surface. The visual frame around the mirror holds everything together and documents the transformation.

Hôtel de Sully
A 17th-century mansion located in the Marais district serves as the ideal venue for 'Squeeze'. Known for its rich history and grand architecture, Hôtel de Sully provides a striking contrast between its classical design and the contemporary forms of Deknudt Mirrors x Paul Cocksedge's installation. This setting enhances the installation's theme of transformation, as the mirrors reflect not just light, but the intricate architectural elements of the building itself.
