L'œuvre originale est de Jan Davidsz de Heem (XVIIe siècle): "Nature morte aux fleurs dans un vase en verre". De Heem a vécu à Utrecht et à Anvers et l'œuvre est exposée au Rijks Museum d'Amsterdam. En transformant la nature morte avec des teintes de gris et en la combinant avec un miroir, l'ensemble apporte une touche mystérieuse. Le dessin de l'œuvre d'art se fond progressivement dans la surface miroir ovale.
